A Long Walk for Children

I can only say I hope the operating room is cleaner than 

the windows outside.  

I think my face says it all.

I can only say this:  either I get a significant price break on 

their products or I'll slap a name infringement lawsuit on the 

owner that will make his head spin. I hope he picks door #1.

There were times today when the rain was literally coming 

sideways ... and it hurt!  After about 3 seconds into this deluge, 

we were soaked to the skin and the temp was only in the low 

50's.  Thankfully my feet were not cold ... they were far too 

numb for that.

We finally found a street that I feel comfortable traveling!  

Here it comes again!  Repeat after me, Linda:  "The kids 

are worth it ... the kids are worth it ... the kids ..."  

Another 200 meters to go.  Proof that we made it!

Linda was so happy he broke into his Tricky Dick Nixon 

number again.

Soaked to the bone, feet numb but heart very much alive 

with joy and gratitude to God for making it this far in safety.  

My thoughts go to my wonderful family, our incredible donors, 

our Rotary hosts along the way, and of course, the fantastic 

and loving children at Open Arms Home for Children. It is our 

hope that this walk will triple the number of children we can
serve in the next few years.  What an absolute privilege to 

walk across this country for them!

Day 29 was one to remember for a lot of reasons:  we got up, across and down the Hottentots Holland Mountains  in one piece-- we got into the eastern edge Cape Town Metro area -- and, we walked 51 km or 31.7 miles … a new record.   Now that’s a good day on the road.  Here are some of the photos from today.  Have a good weekend.  We’re getting close!
